This is the follow up to my final piece which is still unfinished. there are quite a few things which i do not like in my painting which i still need to perfect, like the collar, the thickness of the face and the arms. It is the first time i am using oil paints and it was good fun, i really like the medium. It is also the first time i am drawing something which is to do with fantasy and horror because  usually i am used to drawing portraits and figures so this was a challenge and i enjoyed it.

My feeling on my final piece

My final piece is not completely ready yet, in fact it is far from it. I am not too happy with the way it is turning out, mainly because I've never really drawn anything to do with fantasy before. Usually i'm used to drawing faces and the human body, but it was a different experience which i am learning to put more attention on as i am not too good at fantasy drawings yet.

My unfinished final piece

The reason i chose to paint something which is surreal is because i wanted change and to experiment with a different medium as it is my first time using oils; i usually use acrylics.
I find that when someone masters the style of art then the picture would be out of this world. I think this because these artists think in a different way when coming up with the ideas for their master pieces. Take Chet Zar for instance his paintings are obviously surreal but they also have a hint of realism.

sketch of my final piece

This picture is still in its early stages and far from done. I have decided to change the colar to a fur one, i will publish a picture of that later on.

Like i said before this picture is a mix of all the three artists, another thing which needs to be added is flowers. I want to add red flowers for contrast showing that a flower in its beauty can be a source of 'evil'.

I have to work on the colour of the figure, and arrange the arms and head, the sward is unfinished and i am still debating on a way to tackle it.

What i am using from my chosen artist

For my final piece i would like to combine my three artists, Michael Hussar, Chet Zar and Santiago Caruso, and create  a piece out of them.

Santiago Caruso, Nd, Home age to Bulgakov, Available at:
http://s-caruso.deviantart.com/#/d41x0mn.[Accessed on 10 January 2013]

Caruso finds a way to bring two very opposing images together and form a sort of conflict. for example the red poppies with a gun which turns into a syringe. the poppies also represent blood so they are in conflict with themselves. Now for my piece i am going to take the poppies and fit them in so that this contrast could be made.

Chet Zar, ND,NA, Availabla at: http://cdn1.lostateminor.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/chet-zar-2.jpg:[Accessed on 10 January 2013].

Zar is a peculiar artist who is very inspiring and i truly admire him, for not only did he used to paint but he was a famous makeup artist. His earthy colours and monstrous paintings urged me to paint something keeping his paintings in mind. I like eyes in this painting so i am using something similar for my final piece.

Michael Hussar, ND, NA, Available at:http://disturbedesign.tumblr.com/post/11954143681
.[Accessed on 10th January 2013].

Now Hussars work is very inspiring. He has a very dark mind and the way he paints is extravagantly gory even though it does not show any open skin.
the lips struck me and also the shape of the head, so i decided to use this in me final piece.

Carravagio

Caravaggio also has a great impact on my work, his dull and mellow colours and conflicting images.
This picture portraits a widowed woman named Judith who was a Jew of high rank in Bethulia,a town besieged by the army of the Assyrian general Holofernes.(taken from http://www.artemisia-gentileschi.com/judith1.html[Accessed on 9 January 2013]. She disguised herself as a messenger on a special mission. He ordered a feast with flowing beverages, after he had a bit too much to drink he passed out. Judith and the maid sought the opportunity to strike and so she decapitated his his head and smuggled it back to Bethulia. By doing this she put the enemy to flight. Judith represents virtue overcoming evil. Her beauty stands out against the ferocity of the scene.
this is one of my favorite paintings because of the defined detail and it also shows the power and strength of women. In the picture both women seem fearless and stern, almost as though they've done it before.

The way the cloth is laid out is very peculiar in such a way that the general's sheet is red unlike Judith's which is a deep yellow. the red sheet shows the victim. the sward is very symbolic and i am surely going to use it in my final piece.

My Inspirations For My Final Piece

The main people who have inspired me throughout this term of research were Michael Hussar, Santiago Caruso Chet Zar and the monsters from the horror film 'Silent Hill'.

the way they paint, and in the films case, come up with these monsters is beyond amazing. They have thought me (along with many other very tallented artists) and broadened my imagination to the extent that i am always thinking and illustrating every crazy thought that comes to my mind.

they have a great impact on how i view different types of artifact and help me acknowledge different techniques.

How i found these magnificently talented artists i am unaware of but it was defiantly through hours of research. It was all worth it as they, and other newly discovered artists are helping me find my own style in art which i still have not yet concurred.

All artists have a very broad macabre twist to it, These artists are no ordinary people but artists which can change peoples perspectives on how they look at things.

Concluding

For my Final piece I want to crate a master piece that would include the techniques and illustrations of the artists work which i have researched. I would like to come up with my own characters which have nothing to do with each other and put them all on one canvass. It will be very time consuming but in the end it will hopefully turn out as i hoped for. Each artist inspires me in their own way, and the three artists which i have chosen to blog about are the ones that caught my eye.
they also follow the theme of beneath the surface and they all tackle their art in different manners which make them unique.

I have three final pieces in mind, three of which i am still debating wether to do. These are the very rough and quick sketches i have come up with:-

The first two pictures are for the same piece the rest are different. I am going to experiment with different mediums, and hopefully it will turn out as planned.
